American History students prepare historical Thanksgiving feast

On Wednesday, November 26, Ms. Gaylord’s American History class prepared a traditional Thanksgiving meal using authentic recipes from 1796. Faculty and staff were invited to join in the celebratory feast—and it was truly an experience to remember!

Upcoming HCAM Theatre Production – A Cajun Biscuit Christmas 

This December 17 & 18 • 6:45 PM • on the HCAM Cafeteria Stage, our theatre students will debut an entirely new, original play, A Cajun Biscuit Christmas, written by Ms. Sweet and set right here in the snowy mountains of Western North Carolina. The story unfolds on Christmas Eve inside a tiny, cozy, slightly falling-apart mountain diner where a group of strangers find themselves snowed in for the night.

Culinary Arts Students Serve Fall-Themed Meal to HCAM Staff

On Friday, November 14, HCAM staff and faculty enjoyed a delicious Soup and Baked Potato Bar prepared by students in the HCAM Culinary Arts Academy. The meal was a perfect way to welcome the fall weather and showcase the talents of our future chefs.

Madame Greiner Presents at the 2025 FLANC Fall Conference

In October, Hickory High School and Hickory Career and Arts Magnet High School’s French teacher, Madame Nancy Greiner, presented at the 2025 Fall Conference for FLANC (Fostering Language Acquisition in North Carolina).

HCAM Students Visit Women of Shoah Memorial Monument

On Friday, November 7, several HCAM classes visited the Women of Shoah Memorial Monument in Greensboro, NC. During the trip, students met with artist Victoria Milstein, who shared the significance of honoring the women affected by the Holocaust.

HCAM at the Long View Fall Festival

Staff and students proudly represented HCAM at the Long View Fall Festival on Saturday, October 25, at the Long View Recreation Center. Our students offered face painting and Henna tattoos, adding a creative touch to the festivities, and earned service hours in the process.

This week at HCAM, we joined schools across the country in celebrating National School Lunch Week (NSLW)! The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day, providing nutritious meals that support learning, growth, and overall well-being.

U.S. Air Force Veterans Share Inspiring Journey with HCAM Public Safety Students

Mr. and Mrs. Curry recently joined Ms. Walker’s Public Safety class as guest speakers, offering students a powerful glimpse into life in the U.S. Air Force. From their initial enlistment to their eventual retirement, the Currys shared the motivations behind their decision to serve, the challenges they encountered, and the invaluable lessons they learned throughout their military careers.

Lights, Camera, Action! On Tuesday, September 30, Natasha Eckard, HCS Director of Communications & Community Relations, and three of HCAM's Theater Arts (beginning) students, Robbie C., Olivia G., and Dorian A., worked together to produce a video demonstrating the new milk dispenser in the cafeteria. The students were ready for their closeups.

HCAM Culinary Arts II students prepare Hispanic Heritage Celebration Meal

There is always something cooking at Hickory Career and Arts Magnet High School Culinary Arts Academy. Using Cultural month celebrations as inspiration, the Culinary II class develops menus, creates recipes, prepares dishes, learns the business side of Culinary Arts, and practices customer service skills.
