Starring, Amanda
Hello, my name is Amanda Starring and I am new to HCAM.  I have just moved back to the piedmont area from Sanford, North Carolina, where I taught for the last five years.  Prior to that, I lived in Corpus Christi Texas where I conducted research on seagrass while working as a graduate research assistant for Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.  I also attended High Point University where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology while conducting and publishing research on the rocky shoals spider lily in South Carolina.

My scientific background focuses primarily on ecology and conservation, which relies heavily on educating the public about the environment.  I strongly believe that growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains played an important role in my education and personal interests and I spend much of my free time outside exploring the world around me with my two dogs.

I am currently teaching Earth and Environmental Science, Physical Science, and Anatomy and Physiology, but will try my best to help you with any science questions.  The goal of science is to encourage curiosity, so I encourage you to explore the world around you and to ask questions.
